We want you to be a part of the What’s Your Path Project! As a member of our community, we know that you have a vested interest in seeing our youth succeed and making our community stronger.
Based on a successful model by the Business and Education Partnership of Waterloo Region (BEPW), who launched a Speakers Bureau in 2002, we are developing a What’s Your Path Portal that will include a Speakers Bureau. Similar to our Youth and Parent Portals, the WYP Portal will be accessed directly or through our website. Initially we are targeting Flamborough students but hope to expand into other communities in the future.
As part of the Speakers Bureau, professionals will have the option to:
Become a What’s Your Path ADVISOR
As an Advisor, you agree to reply to questions from students interested in your occupation either through email or our WYP Forum. Through a Profile page that features more about you and is categorized by careers, students can ask you a question. Emails will be coordinated and monitored through a classroom teacher. All conversations through the WYP Forum will be monitored by HYN.
Become a What’s Your Path GUEST SPEAKER
Our Speaker List will be available as a Profile page where teachers can book speakers for in-class or virtual presentations. You will have the opportunity to share your career journey and insights on your occupation to a group of students.
Provide JOB SHADOW EXPERIENCE
Coordinated and screened through WDHS Student Services, you will allow an interested student to follow and observe you performing your job for the day. Contact dzuccolo@hwdsb.on.ca for questions or more information.
Become a CO-OP EMPLOYER
Coordinated through WDHS Co-op Department, you agree to take on an unpaid student as an employee for a 5 month placement (half or full day).
Become a What’s Your Path PROGRAM Partner
Our program partners share a vision of healthy youth and support our network and programming through funding, in-kind services, and networking. As a funding partner, your investment goes to providing opportunities, training, support, tools and resources.
As a partner, you are connected with likeminded community leaders and service providers. Being part of the WYP Project increases your exposure and opportunity for collaboration with others who share the same goals and vision as you do.
As a collaborative, our partners already provide:
- Office & meeting spaces
- Administrative support
- Website hosting
- Existing youth programming & skill building workshops
